Several days after the caterpillar made a cocoon, it chewed a hole in it.
Two days after that, it turned into a carcass with four maggots.
I believe the maggots made the caterpillar chew the hole in the cocoon so they would not be trapped inside as adults.
Unfortunately, I accidentally deleted the in between images for this series, which were the best part.
