Dolomedes albineus (White Banded Fishing Spider)
This is Dolomedes albineus.

Here is another one from Virginia:

The Dolomedes fishing spiders can be extremely difficult to ID at times. The main differences between D. tenebrosus and D. albineus are the wavy white hairs on the abdomen and legs (D. albineus) along with the D. albineus being the only Dolomedes within North America to sometimes sport a mossy green abdomen (Brett Tyler).

Also, the second picture expresses the unbroken white band along the 'face' (clypeus), which is another key trait in D. albineus.

The D. tenebrosus has a black patch that cuts down onto the fangs (chelicerae) and splits the white band:

If you were wondering, all Dolomedes fishing spiders are harmless.

Thank you
Thank you for explanation, I wasn't aware of the white band.
I knew there was a lot of variation within species of Dolomedes, but this one had seemed closer to tenebrosus.

Thanks,
Jimmy, I appreciate that ID info. I spend a lot of time taking pics of critters in our small nature park and generally do not worry about being harmed by them:>)
