Thinking Bombus rufocinctus -
Thinking Bombus rufocinctus - most other species with red on the abdomen (e.g. centralis, bifarius, sylvicola, huntii, etc.) have yellow faces or more cloudy, less distinct thoracic markings.

 
Thinking Bombus rufocinctus (Kelsey)
Thank you for taking a look and guess Kelsey. It is a tuff ID, I have been struggling with for years. I didn't even notice the red on the bbee when I was photographing it, that is how faint it is but that colour did show up in a couple of the photos. It was a big bbee so I would assume given the time of year, it was a queen. An old queen might explain it's worn look and fainter colour and relaxed attitude. Thank you for your help. This particular bbee is what turned me in love with these wonderful creatures.
