Identification
The color pattern -- with a yellowish middorsal stripe that includes a narrow black line -- coupled with the fact that they came from an urban environment say conclusively that these are introduced European millipedes in the genus Brachyiulus; spp. can only be distinguished by details of the male genitalia or gonopods.
Range
primarily Mediterranean region, several spp. widespread in w.Europe and introduced elsewhere; now spread across the US & Canada(2)
