I know if I can get anything this small identified it's probably new to me! The second photo shows a curved rear femur(?).

CO 2
Are these the tiny flies that are right in our face? I think I heard they are after the CO 2?

 
Unlikely
These flies like fungus. The facehuggers include Amiota and some other Drosophilidae. They like sweat.

 
Educational sweat
Thanks again John, we can use the sweat flies as part of our educational offerings. It is a rather common question, what are they after?

I'll say it this way...
...moments later I felt sure I inhaled an insect. I've heard some insects that pester mammals zero in on CO2. What these flies would be after, I don't know. Sweat maybe?
