In low scrub in clearing in mixed forest. Unfortunately I only got this one poor photo before it flew.

Best prediction..
Based on location, my best prediction is T. canicularis. There are few if any Tibicen found that far North. T. linnei has been recorded from New England, but it is patchy and I doubt it is found in Canada.
Compare T. canicularis:
These northern species are similar, so wait for a final ID from Mr. Reynolds.
