Red Milkweed Beetle Taking Flight - Tetraopes tetrophthalmus

Red Milkweed Beetle Taking Flight - Tetraopes tetrophthalmus
Madison, Dane County, Wisconsin, USA
August 1, 2014
I snapped this just as the subject unfurled before flying off. It had been resting on the bird netting covering my container of sunflowers, beans and squash.

For a rough size estimate the bird netting is 1/2" mesh.

I arrived at my identification by comparing the coloration and spot pattern on the elytra with other images at BugGuide in the Tetraopes genus. The rounded shape of the underside of the abdomen would seem to indicate that this is a female. Please, correct me if I'm wrong.
