Western Honey Bee - Apis mellifera Old Westbury Gardens, Nassau County, New York, USA August 29, 2014
Large numbers of the bees were at the edge of a small pond, either drinking or taking minerals from the wet soils at the pond edge. The plant is Lemna minor.
There were a bunch of commercial type hives very close by.
