Conophorus collini - male - female

Conophorus collini - Male Female
Point Mugu State Park, Ventura County, California, USA
March 21, 2007
Stabilized sanddunes at edge of coastal chaparral.

I've been trying several languages in order to get these flies to mate for my camera, and finally ... So far for urban mythology.
Seriously, I felt regaled yesterday: 4 sp. of Copestylum, more Bramble Hairstreaks, Gabb's checkerspot (good exercise running after them, then removing all of the ticks from myself, picked up in the process), Mormon Metalmark, Sara Orangetip (escaped uphill into dense Lemonade berry and Laurel sumac), and much more...All on J.S. Bach's birthday!
