Pierre-Marc, thanks for the species id. It's a new species and genus for the guide.

It most be an Amaurochrous sp., and probably A. brevitylus. Have you the size of this guy ? It would help to confirm the identification.

I didn't get a measurement, but it was on the smaller size, under 7mm, probably closer to 5-6mm.

OK, so it must be A. brevitylus. The only other species in North-Eastern America smaller than 7mm have the juga of the same longer than the tylus and we clearly see on your picture that the juga are longer.

Hmmm - no!
Of course it looks like one, and has a shield on the back - but belongs in Pentatomidae: Podopinae.
Rather inobvious difference is, that the scutellum (=shield) does not completely cover the wings laterally.
