Algarobius Bridwell 1946

Numbers

2 spp. in our area(1)

Identification

scutellum longer than wide, with rather parallel sides (only shared with a S. American genus)

males of the two US Algarobius spp. lack sulci and are externally indistinguishable from ea. other (2)

females are easily differentiated in the US by the position of the sulci (compare figures 645 and 652) (2)

Algarobius prosopis (LeConte) - female w/ sulci nearly confluent with apical margin (2)

- Range: sw US / Mex.

Algarobius bottimeri Kingsolver - female w/ sulci centered one-third from apex (2)

- Range: mostly w/in TX
