Synonyms and other taxonomic changes
Based on a molecular phylogenetic analysis of subfamilial relationships within Braconidae, Sharanowski et al. (2011)(1) removed tribe Brachistini, in which Triaspis falls, from Helconinae, along with other former tribes of the former Helconinae, and placed them in a new subfamily (Brachistinae) along with Blacini (formerly Blacinae).
Identification
fore wing vein 2cu-a usually (95%) present
Most Brachistini have the 1st 3 metasomal terga forming a rigid carapace, although in some, there is a flexible suture between 1st and 2nd tergites
occipital carina complete dorsally

Food
Larvae are parasitoids of various beetles, especially in family Curculionidae including Bruchinae (Curculionidae).(Sharkey, M.J. 1997. Subfamily Helconinae. In:(3))
Life Cycle
Females oviposit eggs into eggs or larvae of host beetle, depending on wasp species. The wasp larva feeds, and then eventually kills a later host larval instar, and pupates. If the host egg is attacked, the life cycle is termed "egg-larval." If the host larva is attacked, it is simply a larval parasitoid. For more info on parasitoid lifeways, see parasitoid life cycles.
