I turned around and saw this one sitting on the bridge, and snapped a few photos. It moved pretty slowly, and took small hops. Any help on identification would be appreciated.

Lubber Grasshopper
I'm pretty sure this is Romalea guttata (click on the name to see the info page for this species). It's the only lubber in the east.
