Multiple individuals of this species were seen crawling and flying around the base of a partially dead conifer. Scale is one inch.

Walked all over a leaf while raising and lowering its wings like a peacock. Was seen on foliage on the edge of a very swampy area along the Chesapeake Bay.

This is the second version of the flying Bombus all covered with pollen submitted in my earlier image "knee-deep in pollen".. I hope this rear view is helpful in id-ing "him". "He" definitely needs better table manners! Do you think it might be a faded Bombus ternarius or something else perhaps??
