Biography:

With the help of Noah Charney, I have written a book called Tracks & Sign of Insects & Other Invertebrates, which will be available from Stackpole Books in March 2010. It is a guide to nests, burrows, egg cases, cocoons, feeding sign, and so on--there is a web page devoted to it here. I will be forever grateful to everyone at BugGuide for helping me with IDs, contributing photos, and giving me ideas of things to include. I make my living by conducting ecological inventories and wildlife surveys. Usually this means I'm looking for and identifying vascular plants and terrestrial vertebrates. I'm fascinated by all life forms, though, and as a result of my book research I seem to have developed a niche here on BugGuide as the guy who comments on all those mystery objects no one else will touch. ID Request is the place I look most regularly, but I also periodically visit: There are also a few "articles" (more like summary pages) that I maintain:
