Full name:
Marie L. Schmidt
City, state, country:
Just south of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Biography:

I grew up in Austria where I got a degree in biology but worked in a field unrelated to invertebrates. Now in retirement I enjoy photographing insects and spiders.

My pictures are taken with a Canon S3IS and depending on the desired magnification I use one of several close-up lenses: Nikon NT3 and NT4 or Raynox DCR-250 and MSN-202. Critters 10mm and larger I photograph outdoors if possible. Smaller subjects I take indoors and usually photograph with the on-board flash fitted with a home-made diffuser. I release all the critters when I have their picture.
