Full name:

Biography:

I completed a BS in zoology at Wichita State University in 1977, taking a few masters' level classes before leaving school. One of those classes was entomology, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Over the years, as I've moved many times with my husband following his medical career in the military/public health, I worked part time as a naturalist for about a decade and have actively volunteered with various Audubon groups, Master Gardeners, and Mobile Botanical Gardens.

In 2007, we moved back to Kansas and purchased 10 acres in Sedgwick County where I have been trying to restore our land. As part of my process, I'm trying to learn the specific insects I encounter and their ecological roles. This site is so helpful. Thank you all for the great help you've provided. Several times a year I give public talks, primarily to gardeners, and I blog at http://gaiagarden.blogspot.com. My hope is to encourage others to plant natives and to support natural ecosystems in their yards and communities.

Additional comment: In 2015, we moved from Clearwater, Sedgwick County, KS, to Ft. Walton Beach, Okaloosa County, FL.

In 2019, we moved from Ft. Walton Beach, FL, to Williamsburg, VA.
