I adore learning about....well, anything! One of my favorite sayings is "You teach best what you most need to learn." I love discovering amazing things about creatures most folks hate. My most recent passion/obsesssion is Wasps. I was afraid of them, but now I have learned about them and find them absolutely fascinating!

I also love teaching high schoolers. You can pick on them (lovingly, of course!), and hopefully they'll pick back. (No fun picking on someone who won't fire back, is it?!) You can challenge them, and they'll step up to the plate. You can really talk to them. I've earned the reputation of being "eccentric", which, I suppose coming from a 9th grader is quite a compliment. I work hard to uphold that title!

I have recently acquired a Chilean Rose-haired tarantula (she's pretty, for a tarantula), a hissing cockroach, and a huge Giant Cave Cockroach (Blaberus giganteus). Thinking of a giant millipede too.. nice critters for class.
