Biography:

I've been interested in insects since childhood (insect collections, etc.), but I ended up with a B.S. in Marine Science and a M.S. in Coastal Science, emphasis Fish Ecology. My first real job out of graduate school (Research Associate at Grand Bay NERR) has me doing the ecology of salt pannes which is much more than fish! The Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve is a unique, almost pristine, coastal area on the border of Mississippi and Alabama. I've found I enjoy taking photographs of the plants and animals I encounter in my research (when I don't have to sample them!). Also, photos are much easier to handle than storing large insect collections, and there is also the challenge of stalking the insect to get the perfect picture.
