Biography:

Zoology student at the University of Guelph. I'm an entomology enthusiast and also enjoy birding.

I've had an interest in nature ever since I immigrated to Canada in 1996. I used to collect casually as a pastime, but didn't mount nor label my specimens. At large, this eight-year-old collection is a shambles. While I've been building a new collection, I've been remounting some of the better-preserved specimens from the old collection ever since mid-2006 (which happened to coincide with my joining BugGuide).

I make every effort to learn what I can about the various insects I encounter. This, hand-in-hand with my recently-adhered interest in insect photography, has taught me much over the past two years. Many thanks to BugGuide, with its many dedicated members, for showing me so much about the insect world! I still have much to learn, so please bear with my questions or identification mess-ups!

Up until May 2008, I shot with a Canon PowerShot A700 digital camera, using improvised equipment and techniques. I have since transitioned to a Canon EOS D450 (Digital Rebel XSi) with EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM.
