I became a new Contributing Editor in September, 2014. I have no formal qualifications. I do have a College Degree but my major was History. Enthusiasm is my main qualification. Hopefully this information will help you evaluate my opinions.
I owe a deep debt of gratitude to the people, whom I have never met, who gave me the tools for an exciting new hobby. Jimmy Jackson (a friend of a friend) got me started with equipment and trying to ID my own photographs with MPG. Jimmy introduced me to Maury Heiman, who nurtured me with personal e-mails (bless his busy heart) until he encouraged me to join Bug Guide in September of 2012. After I started posting many specimens to BG, Robert Lord Zimlich added many identifications. Since becoming an Editor, John and Jane Balaban have helped me get a direction and a feel for the organization. Steve Nanz has gently helped me learn by correcting mistakes and offering to answer questions.
I started "mothing" Easter of 2012 to add a new entertainment for my Grandchildren. They were entertained for a while but I became HOOKED!
Moths are like my morning Crossword puzzle. I love the challenge of identifying something new.
Making mistakes is a learning experience, so please feel free to question/criticize me me.
