Biography:

I am an avid mountain biker, hence the Uphillrider55 handle. I was a research scientist for a medical reference laboratory for 31 years, recently laid off. I have always enjoyed photography, especially macro work.

I use a Nikon 5100 or Nikon D800 with either a Sigma 180 Macro or Sigma 18-250 zoom lens. I always try to use a shutter speed faster than 500 and as high an f-stop as possible, with the ISO set between 640-1000. I usually take way too many shots, but then at least 1 or 2 are good. Always carry a couple of extra 32 gig memory cards. I will shoot anything that will hold still long enough.

I have found Adobe Light Room to be an indispensable tool for organizing my photos.
Favorite subject are dragonflies, damselflies, butterflies, moths, wasps, bees, true bugs, beetles, flies, grasshoppers and anything odd, although if I find a lizard, frog, bird or any other critter I will shoot them also.
