Biography:

Semiretired entomologist and writer, previously with the USDA and the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture. I have published on the phenology of mutillid populations and am now studying sex allocation and diverse life-history strategies used by mutillids to exploit hosts in the spring when air temperatures frequently fluctuate below the males' flight threshold.
