I've had a life-long obsession with nature. I had been training to be an illustrator for many years, but didn't have the ambition at the time. I got into photography back in the early 1990's (pre-digital!). My subjects started out plants, then anything and everything. My favorite thing to do is to find something new to me and to identify it myself. Right now, I'm working on a photographic survey of the invertebrates in my neighborhood (won't be done for a while!).
January 2006, I was diagnosed with Myasthenia gravis, which resulted in double vision and fatigue. I need no sympathy. I now have reached the correct level of medication and these problems have been reduced tremendously! This illness is the reason for my sometimes frantic posting of photos and occasional pushy-ness regarding getting things identified. I will be unable to focus my eyes in a few years and want as much material completed as I can before I have to change my creative direction. It's also one of the reasons I haven't tried to request to be an editor, yet.
Most of the photos I'm posting have been taken in my yard!. I bought a FinePix S7000 in June 2006 and a very good photo printer/scanner/copier. It's been a blast!
