I was born and raised in Ooltewah, Tennessee, a suburb of Chattanooga.
I am a senior at Davidson College, where I am the sole student working in the entomology lab
. For the past three years I have been working on curating and digitizing our small insect collection (~6500 specimens). The collection (data + images) are available here on SCAN
. I am currently working on adding catalog numbers to specimens and re-curating and re-labeling the collection. In my free time I collect insects (mostly moths) on the Davidson College Ecological Preserve.
I have worked for two summers at the Mississippi Entomological Museum (MEM) curating, identifying, preparing, and collecting Lepidoptera.
I have a broad interest in entomology, with a particular interest in the taxonomy, systematics, distribution, and hostplant associations of moths. I have experience collecting and photographing moths throughout the southeastern United States. Besides moths, I have recently developed a keen interest in certain beetle and wasps families (especially Scarabaeidae and Ichneumonoidea).
I also enjoy running, basketball, ultimate frisbee, and rock climbing.
