My interest in nature began in high school when I became a birdwatcher, then branched into wildflowers and trees a few years later. I only began photographing bugs on a regular basis after "permanently borrowing" my brother's digital camera in the summer of 2003. Since 2005 I've concentrated more on shooting moths around home, partly because I'm sort of a night hawk, and partly because the cost of gas has led me to cut back on road trips.

I have a degree in zoology but for the past several years have been teaching computer applications and doing desktop publishing/graphic design part-time at a community centre.
