If you enjoy BugGuide.Net and find it useful, there are many ways to help support the site.
First and foremost, consider donating your time by helping others. An active community that makes others feel welcome can make or break a web site. When you can offer help on unidentified images, take time to comment and give pointers. If you are interested in becoming an editor, simply contact John
. We need all the help we can get to organize the guide and add content.
Unable to find time to help out? Then you may be able to make a monetary donation. As the site grows, it needs funding for infrastructure. BugGuide currently serves over 3 million requests per day.
As one of the best sources of entomological information on the web, BugGuide is currently modernizing and donations go directly to this effort. You can follow our progress here
You can give using a credit card through the Iowa State University Foundation. Your gift is tax-deductible.

Update December 15: in October we kicked off a push to get BugGuide closer to launching on our new platform which will be more mobile-friendly, have better search, and have image ranking.
We have a student working on bringing artificial intelligence to BugGuide. Each $12
you give pays for an hour of his time.
During busy times you may see an insect with a coffee cup instead of seeing BugGuide. That is because our main database server can't keep up with the load. A modern database server is about $4500
All donations are much appreciated! Please note that I do not have access to the donation records as you give; I am only provided a statement quarterly. So I am unable to personally thank you but please accept my heartfelt thanks.
