Why submit books to the guide?

Contributing books to the most appropriate place in the guide makes others aware of the various resources available to them. When browsing for information, one can quickly discover relevant resources. In most cases one can even click through to Amazon.com to purchase a book. Amazon.com returns a small percentage of those sales to help support this site.

How do I submit my book for inclusion in the guide?

You must register and be logged in before you can submit your book.

First navigate to the best place in the guide. Once you're in the right spot, click the books tab and you'll see all the books for that spot along with an "add book" link. When you click "add book" you'll see a submission form where you'll be able to provide relevant information for your book. Before entering all the details though, try importing the information from Amazon.com (see next question).

How can I include an image of the book like I see elsewhere in the guide?

Before entering any other information, provide the ISBN and click the import button. BugGuide.Net will contact Amazon.com and request the details for the publication along with any images they provide. You should verify and correct the information provided because frequently there are minor mistakes. If the image differs from your book, it's probably because the publisher has released a newer edition.

How can I easily reference a book from the guide in my posts?

Use a cite tag.

How can I see a list of all the books in the guide so I can print it and keep it handy when making citations?

You can always find the current list here. Sort as desired and note the link at the bottom of the page to a printer friendly version.
