I forgot to take a full body shot before I started with this specimen. Here it is now, a little worse for the wear, from trying to manipulate it into various positions.
length: 2.1mm. The max size in my culture appears to be around 2.5-2.6mm

Peterson creek question Santa Rosa, Sonoma County, California, USA April 12, 2024 Size: 3mm 1 of 2 images of this specimen.
Found in an aquatic macro inverts sample from Peterson Creek. Is this a terrestrial insect that got mixed into the sample or is this an aquatic macro invert? Look closely at terminal end to see two tubes or broken legs? The second image shows ventral view, piercing/sucking mouth. Image from dissecting scope view

Errhomus leaf hoppers - Mating pair - Cashmere Canyons Natural area, Chelan County, Washington, USA April 14, 2024
I posted a similar photo 9 years ago, from not far from this location and it remains one of only a very few in situ photos of this genus... If anyone wishes to find these, this year there appears to have been quite a hatch. As of last weekend there were literally millions of them. They were covering pretty much every plant in sight.

Update: It turns out this was just a piece of debris or something. See the next image.

It turns out there were eyes hiding under those scales after all!
I'm not sure if that would be considered 1+1 or 2+2. One larger one to the right, and one tiny one to the left?
