darner dragonfly, possible Lake Darner? - Aeshna interrupta
nr Merritt, BC, British Columbia, Canada
September 5, 2014
Photographed at a marsh near Merritt BC. My guess it is a Lake Darner, possibly female ovipositing, but I'd appreciate an expert opinion. Thanks. Gerry Polman, Vancouver BC

Variable Darner
By the thickness of abdominal Segment 3 I'd say it is a female. She may be ovipositing, or you caught her as she's stretching :-)
