Hi Tim, sorry for the late response. Unfortunately, I do not recall the plant they were on, although I might be able to jog my memory if I were able to revisit the site. I don't live in the area any more, so I don't know if I'll get a chance to.

While the particular plant in the photo escapes my memory,
E. carinata
can be found on a wide variety of herbaceous plants. I most commonly find them (nymphs at least) on thistles.
