Size: length about 10 mm
Perched on goldenrod. Time 15:40 EDT, temp high 60’s°F, sunny. This individual resembles the BugGuide Photo#613306 of Xanthomelanodes arcuatus. Is that what it is? If not, any other suggestions?

Tachinidae
And it also looks like Xanthomelanodes to me. But Tachinidae genera are notoriously difficult :)
