Yellow-winged grasshopper - Arphia xanthoptera - male

Yellow-winged grasshopper - Arphia xanthoptera - Male
Kinder Farm Park, Anne Arundel County, Maryland, USA
September 28, 2014
Wings are bright yellow in flight. Sulphur-winged Grasshopper?

Moved tentatively
Moved from Arphia.

By range, it can only be A. sulphurea or A. xanthoptera. This still looks a little strange for xanthoptera, but sulphurea should not be out at this time of year.

definitely an Arphia
but A. sulphurea shouldn't be out at this time of year, and the pronotal crest doesn't look high enough for A. xanthoptera.

I'll take a closer look at it later.
