Tobacco Hornworm - Manduca sexta

Tobacco Hornworm - Manduca sexta
Mesa, Maricopa County, Arizona, USA
September 25, 2014
I was looking at my jalapeno plant when I just barely noticed this guy snacking away. I soon realized there was a whole swarm of them eating the jalapeno plant. As I took the picture my dog finally noticed what it was that I was looking at and he began to bite one. My dog then proceeded to knock the worms to the ground and eat them. Was told they were Tomato Hornworms but after further research I believe that this is in fact a Tobacco Hornworm.
