Size: ~1/2 in.
My guess at the host plant is Grass-leaved goldenrod (Euthamia graminifolia). Found another on aster, that one was white with tinges of lavender to blend in with the flowers.

All the images we have of Pleuroprucha cats that have been raised to adult have a different pattern, 'bowties' down the back rather than diamonds. See

We have some images similar to yours posted from Alberta and Saskatchewan that are way out of the range for Pleuroprucha and they seem to compare favorably with Eupithecia subfuscata so we moved them there based on the similarity to images on MPG
