Fly - Anthomyia illocata

Fly - Anthomyia illocata
Houston, Harris County, Texas, USA
March 29, 2007

Moved from Anthomyia.

Possibly alien
This might be the Asian species Anthomyia illocata. No native species of Anthomyia has such markings.

Moved from Root-Maggot Flies.

I've had other images ID'd as Anthomyia.

Anthomyiidae: probably Anthom
Anthomyiidae: probably Anthomyia... though I don't know this group well enough to give any certainty

Addendum: there is a picture of Heliomyzidae: Hylemya in the Kaufman Guide that looks similar to this specimen as well... I still lean towards Anthomyia on this, but with less than 100% certainty

Thanks for the ID.
