ID confirmed by examination of voucher specimen. Interesting, the major external character used by Spilman (1985), which is the length of the pronotal carinae, is not consistent with this specimen. However the specimen is a male and examination of the genitalia shows it is hayekae. Also, the specimen has a carinate tibia I which also supports hayekae, as does the distribution in SE Texas.

Interesting; according to Spilman (1985), L. hayekae is the only species in this part of TX (eastern TX and OK). However, the dorsal pronotal carinae are not long enough for this species. I have two specimens from OK that are similar.

Based on the pronotal carinae, this should be either L. schottii (AZ to southwestern TX) or L. sallei (not recorded west of New Orleans, LA).

Personally, I don't see why all three cant be found in southern TX so if I get to see the specimen and it's a male, maybe the genitalia will reveal something.
