Melanocanthon nigricornis (Say), female
Moved from Melanocanthon. ID'd from specimen, now a photo-voucher. Thanks Iustin.

I think M. granulifer also gets into Texas, but it has larger, denser granules on the pronotum.

Moved
Sorry for the incorrect initial move; I was trying to evaluate the number of spurs on the hind tibiae and I mis-counted initially (looking only at the dorsal and leg images)--the ventral shot clearly shows two spurs with places this specimen in Melanocanthon.

Moved from subgenus Boreocanthon.

Thanks
and don't worry about two moves.
Yes they are two spurs on tibiae. The dorsal and side photos are tricky, hide one and in most pictures seems to be only one. Ventral photo show the best the spurs.
I added a dorsal view, where the spurs can be observed.

Moved
Moved from Beetles.
