Black mayfly - Leptophlebia

Black mayfly - Leptophlebia
Fairfield, Wayne County, Illinois, USA
March 27, 2007
Possibly Leptophlebia cupida? Beautiful, whatever its name.

Moved
Moved from Mayflies.

Black Quill spinner
This is a male Leptophlebia imago. (Notice the short thin median caudal filament.) Most L. cupida specimens I've seen don't show this degree of staining on the forewing. It might be L. nebulosa, but I'm not sure.

to ephemeroptera pending further id.
