Unknown hummingbird mimic - Lepidophora lepidocera

Unknown hummingbird mimic - Lepidophora lepidocera
Austin, Travis County, Texas, USA
October 7, 2014
I have seen and photographed hummingbird moths (sphinx moths), but I am certain that I have never come across this mimic before. With the modified "plumes" I am completely befuddled. The wings are modified to look almost identical to those of a hummingbird or a swift. Incredible insect.
