Collected from carrion trap at a restored sand prairie. Specimen in alcohol.

The antennae are pretty neat. Rs is unbranched. Metatibiae with basal dorsal bristle pair (i.e. Phorinae).

This keys to Conicera (Conicera) dauci. The only species in its subgenus listed in the Manual of Neartic Diptera. Two other subgenera: Hypocerina, which has a bristle at the end of the Rs... and Tritoconicera, which has suprantennal bristles in the male (which this specimen lacks).
