Long, green caterpillar in Carrollton, Georgia - Antheraea polyphemus

Long, green caterpillar in Carrollton, Georgia - Antheraea polyphemus
Carrollton, Carroll County, Georgia, USA
August 29, 2014
Size: Approx. 7.5cm
A long, slow moving, green caterpillar of some sort. I was wondering what it would turn into. It had a small, tannish head, but majority is the long, thick, green body.

Photo taken December 31, 1969?
Can you correct the photo date? December 31, 1969 is Bugguide's default entry when the date field is blank. Thanks.
