spiderling - Argyrodes

spiderling - Argyrodes
Mark Twain Lake, Monroe County, Missouri, USA
September 27, 2014
I don't expect to get an ID, but I thought people might enjoy seeing these. There were several of these little guys sharing a web. I couldn't measure, but I'd figure they were about 1mm long. Seems like they are some sort of orb weaver, but beyond that who knows.

Dewdrop Spider
Argyrodes sp.:

These are kleptoparasitic meaning they live in the webs of other spiders and steal their prey. They can often take down and prey on the host spider too, even it is many times their own size.

Thanks!
Is it A. pluto based on range given on the genus page in the guide? Or would we need more to tell?

Maybe,
going by the images we have in the Guide I think it looks more like A. elevatus though so I'm not certain. I don't know how much A. pluto varies.

Sounds good
We'll leave it at genus then. Thanks for your help with the ID!
