Sphinx Moth Caterpillar? - Ceratomia sonorensis
Tucson, Pima County, Arizona, USA

Size: 3 cm
I found this caterpillar on a vertical post on my patio. He's been in the same position for hours with no motion at all. I just went out to check the corpse, and he moved feebly. If he's still there in the morning I'll move him into some bushes. Any opinions as to species? Note small size.
