Scarab Beetle with blue irridescence on underside - Geotrupes splendidus

Scarab Beetle with blue irridescence on underside - Geotrupes splendidus
Great Falls, Riverbend Park, Fairfax County, Virginia, USA
October 12, 2014
This scarab beetle was crossing a mowed path in a meadow. I've seen it before and believe it is a Geotrupes species. But beetles are not my strong point... It has a parasitic mite under it's (beautiful blue) thorax, likely immature since it is so pale and undefined.
