Found on hollyhock in suburban backyard. Looks like bugs pictured on http://nathistoc.bio.uci.edu/hemipt/Ranzovius%20californicus.htm

I realized the bugs linked in the description are on the guide as Rhinacloa forticornis - Western Plant Bug, this looks to be better fit for these too. They definitely were not spider associates.
