It's a Sigela, and possibly (maybe probably)....
8433 - Stippled Sigela Moth - Sigela penumbrata. Problem is, there are three species in your area and I've seen photos only for two of them. The little buggers show wear very easily, and it would be nice to have certified specimens in both fresh and worn condition for all three. Here's an obviously worn 8434 - Sigela basipunctaria from the Archbold collection with no markings along the forewing costa. Beside it is a fresh Sigela that I photographed at Archbold a couple of weeks ago. It strikes me as being intermediate between S. penumbrata and S. basipunctaria. Maybe this is the third species, S. eoides. This could also be your bug, but maybe not. ~~ Baffled in Bowie.
