Abagrotis variata? - Caradrina

Abagrotis variata? - Caradrina
Spokane, Spokane County, Washington, USA
October 3, 2014
Not near as sure that Abagrotis variata is the correct name here as there were several similar moths in a Discover Life WA search. What led me to this choice mainly was the 3 white dots along the outer forward (lower side as pictured here) edge of the front wing. But there were two other moths that were also similar.

Again a better set of pics than what I was trying to choose from. Caradrina Montana looks to my untrained eye like the correct ID.

Thanks
Any help that increases the possibility of ID is appreciated.
