Moved from Dark-winged Fungus Gnats. ID'd from specimen, now a photo-voucher. Thanks John.

There may be a few distinctive 'species' where females can be ID'd but I think that without a comprehensive study of our fauna we are out of luck IDing females to species. Other genera have been worked on recently so there is hope!

[Wing length 3.6 mm, body length (thorax & abdomen) 3.8 mm]

This is a female. The male abdomen ends in a pair of claspers instead of a narrow point with two prongs.
