Tiger Moth Caterpillar - Lophocampa roseata

Tiger Moth Caterpillar - Lophocampa roseata
Lantzville, Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada
October 10, 2014
Found this walking along the road near my house. Clearly this caterpillar is a mystery but Lophocampa roseata has been suggested?

I took a couple of pictures when I got it home then got busy and when I went to take more then next day I found I was too late (or right on time?) and found the cocoon.

Can anyone suggest how I should store this for the winter? inside in a cold room or in a shed in the backyard that is not heated? I hope it works and the mystery can be solved!

other examples all seem to be from WA from very late September and October.
